How to Buy an infinias IP-based Access Control Solution

We make purchasing an infinias IP-based access control solution easy, with a few simple-to-follow steps.

How to Purchase

eidc32

  1. Determine the number of doors you need to monitor
  2. Select software or a server with pre-installed software
  3. Select a door kit for each door
  4. Choose readers and credentials

1. Determine Number of Doors

Before you begin selecting your infinias IP-based Access Control Solution, you need to determine the number of doors you wish to monitor at each location. Do you need to add 10 doors at a single location, or do you need to add hundreds of doors at multiple locations around the world? The number of doors will determine the ideal server, software and number of door kits you will need to create your complete access control solution.

Intelli-M Software

2. Choose Software or a Server with Pre-installed Intelli-M Access Software

After you determined the number of doors you need, you can select your infinias Intelli-M Access Base Kit including Intelli-M Access Essentials Software. Intelli-M Access Essentials Software is the ‘base’ level software with all of the essentials needed to implement your access control solution. Purchase of this software is required for all installations, with the exception of single door installations (that can be configured utilizing the embedded web server on the eIDC32 controller without any additional software purchase).

Intelli-M Access is offered as a software-only base kit or pre-installed and configured on two models of servers, a desktop/wall mount 32 door server and a 1U rack mount 128 door server.

Servers Simplify Configuration

Intelli-M access servers make installing a new access control solution easy. Install the door controllers, plug in the server and turn it on. By the time you log into Intelli-M Access, it will have discovered the controllers out on the network and have them ready for you to configure.

Infinias servers are engineered to handle the rigors of access control and provide the appropriate platform to power the infinias Intelli-M Access rules.

3. Add a door kit for each door

infinias door kits help simplify implementing your access control solution with conveniently packaged kits to meet the needs of just about any type of installation. Each door kit comes with an eIDC32 door controller, a plaster ring, cover plate, surface mounting box, and reader to get you started with your access control solution.

Installation Scenarios for Choosing the Right Door Kit

Installation Scenario 1

You already have a door strike, a proximity reader and door contacts already in place.

In this case, you simply need to purchase an eIDC32 door controller. You can run Ethernet to the door, and wire all of your existing hardware to the eIDC32 Ethernet-enabled integrated door controller. You’ll also need to order a surface mounting box or recessed mounting box to house the door controller. One eIDC32 door controller and one mounting box is needed for every door you wish to control.

Note: Don’t forget to order a surface mounting box or recessed mounting box to house the eIDC32 door controller.

Installation Scenario 2

You have a door strike and door contacts, but need readers.

Order an S-DOOR-KIT-WH which includes an eIDC32 door controller, surface mounting box, cover plate, plastic ring and card reader—for every door.

Installation Scenario 3

You have a brand new building and need everything.

You need the DOOR-KIT-WH-ST complete solution to secure a single door which includes: eIDC32 door controller, a plaster ring, cover plate, surface mounting box, and card reader; plus a ROFU 2400 series* electric door strike, a metal door switch set and surface mount switch set.

Strike Note: The ROFU 2400 series strike is a standard sized door strike. If your doors are pre-cut for a larger sized strike, please call infinias for more options.

Note: Installations requiring multiple readers for single doors can be added a la carte.

The above scenarios represent the most common installation configurations, but we recognize that there will always be configurations that fall outside the scope of these examples. We can help you choose the solution that’s right for your installation.

Frequently Asked infinias Access Control Solution Questions

1. I only have one door to secure. Do I need to purchase Intelli-M Access Software?

No. The eIDC32 contains a built in web server with its own user interface (UI). You can create schedules, enter cardholders, and manage a single door from this easy-to-use web UI.

2. I notice your kits come with HID readers. Are HID readers the only proximity readers that can be used with your controller?

No. Our eIDC32 controller can accept information from any reader, keypad, or biometric device that outputs up to a 64 bit Wiegand string.

3. Do you have a solution for elevator control?

We offer an input/output device (I/O device) that can be configured to provide access control to elevators and monitor banks of doors. The module is PoE powered and fits in a single rack space.

4. Can your controller support multiple readers? I need two “IN” readers. One on the door, and another for handicap access.

The eIDC32 door controller can support 2 readers. The typical set up is that one is an “IN” reader and the other is an “OUT” reader. However, by making a few changes on the software side, you can actually have two “IN” readers for scenarios needing an extra “IN” reader for handicap access. Please contact our technical support team for details.

5. PoE power isn’t available where this controller is going. Can I use a power supply?

We offer an external power supply to power the eIDC32 Ethernet-enabled integrated door controller when PoE is not a viable option for your installation.
